Going Vegan- If Only For A Day!

November 1st is World Vegan, so why not go wild and try Veganism out?

Don’t worry, I hear you! You’re probably thinking, woah, no animal products at all, no meat, no dairy, and even no honey! Well hear me out before you go and buy your next juicy steak for dinner tomorrow!


How Do I Become A Vegan?

Lets delve in to what Veganism even is… Basically it’s a diet that consists of no animal produce at all, that includes milk, eggs and pretty much anything an animal produces. Becoming a Vegan is all about will power and planning! Just remember that its not a chore :) It’s about enjoying the food you are eating whilst helping the environment and your own well-being.

So you may be wondering….  

Why should I do this? 

How is it sustainable?

Let’s go into how first…

Well we believe it will be a good idea to try it for just one day a week! Meaning that your body won’t be shocked into a new way of eating all at once! This way of approaching Veganism is becoming more and more popular as it gives your body the best of both worlds.

A lot of families do “No Meat Mondays” so why not try “Vegan Wednesdays.” But if that doesn’t work for you, you have six more days to choose from!


The Proof Is In The Pudding!

The next question is why should you do it? Well, there are so many different ideas of why being a vegan can be brilliant for your health.

Many vegans’ say that it makes them feel healthier, maintain a steady, healthy weight or even make their skin look younger.

Now this on its own sounds great right? So here’s the science…

Well-planned, plant-based diets are rich in:

  • Protein
  • Iron
  • Calcium

…and so many other essential vitamins and minerals your body needs!

The sources of these nutrients tend to be low in saturated fat, high in fibre and packed with antioxidants. Which means your body is getting a belly full of all the things it craves most in life- how brilliant is this!

An article published in Food Technology explained that plant-based diets either minimize or completely eliminate people’s genetic tendency to develop chronic diseases, such as diabetes and cancer!

So what is there to question? Maybe, ‘How great can it make me feel?’ – well there’s only one way to find out! So why not try being a part-time Vegan and reap the benefits for yourself.

Now all you need is some ideas, right? There are so many interesting Vegan recipes to try so don’t worry about lack of choice!

But just remember, being a vegan (even for one day a week) is like any other diet, it needs research and planning to get right. So now you know the basics, make sure to really enjoy Veganism!
