Hello my wonderful readers!
We all know that our days go much better with a sprinkle of kindness in them.
Well, today is World Kindness Day, and recent studies (as shown below) have actually demonstrated that spreading kindness can be so important for ourselves as well as others.
Give And You Shall Receive
Kindness can make us happy! Research by Professor Sonja Lyunomirsky asked participants in a study to perform random acts of kindness. She found that people who performed a wide variety of kind acts were ultimately happier than people who only performed the same act repeatedly.
Being kind to others, is such a great thing for your body and mind!
Your soul has five qualities (Peace, Happiness, Energy, Wisdom, and Love), and within the quality of ‘Love’ lies ‘Kindness.’ As you get closer to your soul, you will begin to manifest these qualities naturally.
Being kind ultimately, can bring you closer to your inner-self!
Kindness Gives Us Healthier Hearts
Acts of kindness are often accompanied by emotional warmth. Emotional warmth produces the hormone oxytocin. This hormone is one which protects the heart (by lowering blood pressure). Professor Stephen Post, author of ‘Altruism, Happiness and Health’, says that there is “a strong correlation between the wellbeing, happiness and health of people who are kind.”
So being kind can help you in so many ways!
Kindness Is Contagious
When we’re kind, we inspire others to be kind, and it actually creates a ripple effect that spread further than we could imagine.
A recent scientific study reported than an anonymous 28-year-old walked into a clinic and donated a kidney. This set off a domino effect where the spouses or other family members of recipients of a kidney donated one of theirs.
Because of this one person’s donation, TEN more people received a new kidney- kindness truly is contagious!
Spread some kindness today and make yourself happier and healthier in the easiest way possible!
Can you think of any great ways to spread kindness this week? Why not pop into your local charity shop and see if they have any ideas?
Love Lauren xo
